Krishna Janmashtami 2021

  Krishna Janmashtami                               2021

Krishna Janmashtami is one of major festival of Hinduism celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna.

Krishna Janmashtami is also known as Gokulashtami or Sri krishna jayanti in some regions.  According to the Hindu calendar, Janmashtami is celebrated on the Ashtami (eighth day) of Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Shravana or Bhadra (in the Hindu calendar, there is a leap month once every three years).

Lord Krishna, one of the most admired and most famous God of all Indian divinities, 8th avatar of God Vishnu and also as a supreme god in his own right.

Each incarnation of Lord Vishnu on the Earth is with a purpose and to accomplish some definite tasks. Lord Krishna came to the Earth to kill his uncle king Kansa and to relieve the people of Braj from his torture and tyranny. Later Lord Krishna participated in the events of the Mahabharata and Lord Krishna’s participation had profound effect on the Mahabharata war and its consequences.

A Brother, a charioteer, a warrior, a disciple, a guru, a cowherd, a messenger, the beloved of the gopis. Throughout his life, Krishna enacted so many roles—the whole time never forgetting that they were just that, roles and that his true nature was eternal, ever blissful consciousness. In this way, he was able to remain detached and thus perform flawlessly, never allowing the smile to go away from his face.

Nisheeth’ puja muhurat is 23:59:27 to 24:44:18 at night the duration will be 44 minutes. Janmashtami Paran Muhurat will fall on August 31 after 05:57:47 in the morning.

Birth and History of Krishna Janmashtami

The story told us that Lord Krishna’s uncle (mama) King Kansa, wanted to kill him as the former was told that Krishna is the one who would kill him. And so, as soon as Krishna was born, his father Vasudeva took him across the Yamuna to Gokul where he was raised by foster parents Nanda and Yashoda. Janmashtami, therefore, not just marks Krishna’s birth but also his victory over Uncle Kansa.

How is Janmashtami Celebrated?

Every year on Krishna Janmashtami, devotees celebrate this auspicious festival by observing a fast and praying to Lord Krishna. The fast is observed to their beloved deity and can only be broken after offering their prayers to him. Meanwhile, the ritual of breaking the fast is called Parana.
